Ken bushe artist biography

12th, 13th and 14th June 2015, the artists living in and around my adopted little home town of Jimena de la Frontera, opened their doors to the general public, turning the town into one large art gallery!

It was a pleasant afternoon visiting the various studios, using the little map as a guide to find them all.

David Solis Illana’s work made me think of the old masters, with such perfectly painted, luminous skin and no brushstrokes at all. Absolutely beautiful work which much take a long time to complete.

Marta Fuster Barutell’s latest work are symbols in relief on white paper, and we watched she was working on these. Interesting, although perhaps not to my taste.

Lorraine Bacchus, BA MAFA, had an art installation in an old chapel in Calle Consuelo, which was an amazing experience. ‘It symbolises those moments in our lives when words fail us….the hanging panels of fine cloth have been painted  and sewn to represent a book’s pages and lines o
