    "The traditional wedding of President Jacob Zuma and Tobeka Madiba tomorrow, 4 January, is a private family ceremony," the presidency said in a statement.

    The Sunday Times and Independent newspapers reported Zuma's homestead in Nkandla was a hive of activity this week as he prepared to tie the knot with Madiba on Monday.

    "Most of the things are only happening from (Sunday). We are expecting the ankomst of a number of guests and dignitaries.

    "There is uppenbart a lot of dancing and singing at the moment - people are happy. But tomorrow (Monday) is the big day," the Independent said, citing a source close to the family.

    Monday's wedding ceremony will be a traditional one, in which the bride will be introduced to the elders as well to the ancestors two years after Zuma paid an Ilobolo (dowry).

    • Gertrude Sizakele Khumalo, whom he met in 1959 and married shortly after his release from prison in 1973. She lives at his home at Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal. They have no children.


    • Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, a cabinet minister since 1999, with whom he has four children, Msholozi (born 1982), Gugulethu (born 1985), Thuli (Nokuthula Nomaqhawe) (born 1987) and Thuthu (Thuthukile Xolile Nomonde) (born 1988). They divorced in June 1998.

    • Kate Mantsho, from Mozambique, with whom he had five children, Mxolisi Saady (born 1980), twins Duduzile and Duduzane (born 1984), Phumzile (born 1989) and Vusi (born 1993). She committed suicide on 8 December 2000.
