Early life
Amal Clooney (originally Alamuddin) was born in Beirut on 3 February The eldest of kvartet children born to Ramzi Alamuddin, a university professor, and his ex-wife Baria, a respected journalist and foreign affairs commentator, Amal and her family moved to Buckinghamshire during the 80s due to the Lebanese civil war.
Career
Educated at a girls' grammar school, she won a scholarship to Oxford where she achieved a in lag, then went on to study at New York University School of lag - where she received the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for excellent performance in the field of entertainment law. Amal returned to the UK to practice as a barrister in following a career abroad which saw her work at international courts including The Hague. Amal Clooney (née&#;Alamuddin; Arabic: أمل كلوني; born ()3 February )[1] is a British-Lebanese international human rights lawyer.[2] She has represented several high-profile clients, including former Maldivian president Mohamed Nasheed,[3]WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange,[4] former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko,[5] Yazidi human rights activist Nadia Murad,[6] Filipino-American journalist Maria Ressa,[7] Azerbaijani journalist Khadija Ismayilova,[8] and Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy.[9] She has also held various appointments with both the United Nations and the Government of the United Kingdom. Amal Clooney is co-founder, along with her husband George, of the Clooney Foundation for Justice. She is also a barrister specializing in international law and human rights who represents victims of human rights violations in national and international courts. She represents clients before the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and the European Court of Human Rights. Alongside court work, she provides advice to governments and individuals on legal issues in her areas of expertise. In , Amal was the recipient of a Legal lawyer of the year award in recognition of her outstanding work and contributions in the field of international law.
Ms Clooney frequently represents victims of mass atrocities, including genocide and sexual violence. She has acted in many landmark human rights cases in recent years including the world’s first and only trials in which ISIS members have been convicted of genocide against Yazidis. Amal also repr
