Early life
Amal Clooney (originally Alamuddin) was born in Beirut on 3 February The eldest of kvartet children born to Ramzi Alamuddin, a university professor, and his ex-wife Baria, a respected journalist and foreign affairs commentator, Amal and her family moved to Buckinghamshire during the 80s due to the Lebanese civil war.
Career
Educated at a girls' grammar school, she won a scholarship to Oxford where she achieved a in lag, then went on to study at New York University School of lag - where she received the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for excellent performance in the field of entertainment law. Amal returned to the UK to practice as a barrister in following a career abroad which saw her work at international courts including The Hague. She is also a barrister specializing in international law and human rights who represents victims of human rights violations in national and international courts. She represents clients before the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and the European Court of Human Rights. Alongside court work, she provides advice to governments and individuals on legal issues in her areas of expertise.
