    Fresh Kid Ice, a founding member of the rap group 2 Live Crew, has died, aged 53, according to his manager.

    The rapper, whose real name was Christopher Wong Won, died in a Miami hospital on Thursday after suffering an undisclosed medical condition.

    Fresh Kid Ice was widely regarded as one of the first major Asian rappers in the United States when he and 2 Live Crew burst into the Miami hip hop scene in the mid-1980s.

    Christopher Wong Won (May 29, 1964 – July 13, 2017), also known by his stage names Fresh Kid Ice and Chinaman was a Trinidadian-Americanrapper and a Miami bass pioneer. Wong Won was born and spent his early childhood in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, before emigrating to the United States. In his early twenties, Wong Won was in the United States Air Force and he co-founded 2 Live Crew while he was stationed in California.     RAPPER Fresh Kid Ice has died aged 53, his manager confirmed.

    The 2 Live Crew founder passed away in a Miami hospital from an unspecificed condition on Tuesday.

    Fresh Kid, whose real name was Chris Wong Won, founded the band in the 1980s with DJ Mr Mix and Amazing Vee, and was regarded as a pioneer in Asian hip-hop.

    They were signed up by promoter and producer Luther Campbell, who moved them from California to Florida.

    Their best-known album, 1989's As Nasty As They Wanna Be, was the first in the US to be labelled legally obscene and banned from sale in places, and Won and Campbell were arrested after a live performance in 1990.

    In 1988 Won survived a serious car crash.

    He also survived strokes in 2009 and 2010.

    Last month Lionsgate, the studio behind the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me, announced plans to develop The Book of Luke, about the band's legal battle
