Aravane Rezai's lawsuit against father: Was it due to political or cultural pressures?
Tennis Now reports that the 24-year-old Iranian-French tennis player Aravane Rezai has filed a lawsuit in France against her father, Arsalan, accusing him of `"harassment, intentional violence and death threats."
It is known that financial tensions have been an issue for the Rezai family, but it fryst vatten now the cultural and political tensions that seem to be prompting Aravane's complaint. For example, gods year, she showed reluctance to requests by her father and Iranian government to join Iranian tennis team, which requires women to play in fully covered uncomfortable Islamic outfits. Thanks to our reader, Gregoire, I am learning about Aravane Rezai’s interview forLe Figaro entitled“Between me and my father”, where the world No.21 talks for the first time about the issues that happened with her father during the Australian Open. Rezai didn’t entirely reveal the exact nature of the clash, despite journalist’s persistence, but my understanding is that she wants more independence in making her own choices. The unwelcome situtation hit her emotionally and she needed some time to recover. Things seem to be settling down now.

Father is banned over fears for French tennis star's 'safety'
By MIKE DICKSON FOR THE DAILY MAILUpdated:
Safety concern: Aravane Rezai
The spectre of abusive relationships in women's tennis has raised its head again with the WTA Tour banning a relative of France's world No 22 Aravane Rezai from attending its events indefinitely.
It is understood the person in question is her father Arsalan, who has a history of run-ins with French tennis authorities.
Citing 'a serious safety matter', the women's game's authorities have imposed the ban and local police are also involved.
Aravane, 23, lost in the first round of the Australian Open and withdrew from the doubles without explanation.
French media reported she had a row with her father on the morning of her match and that an altercation had taken place between her boyfriend and her father.
In her post-match interview, Aravane said there had been distracting 'concerns' before her match, but said later that most of the cla
