    Srinagar: Five years after Afzal Guru was hanged inside notorious Tihar Jail in New Delhi, for his alleged role in parliament attack, his son Ghalib Afzal Guru, secured marks to qualify Class 12 exams, drawing instant praise from people in Kashmir.

    “The news of my results has given me innate solace,” Ghalib told Kashmir Life over the phone. “I cannot express my feelings.”

    Ghalib recalls how during his short meetings with his jailed father, the Sr. Guru would console him to strive hard and become a noble soul.

    “My father wanted me to become a doctor and an Islamic scholar,” Ghalib quipped, “I worked very hard and the result is there.”

    Ghalib, who is presently preparing for the NEET exams, opined that the Kashmir dispute is taking a “heavy toll” on the student community. “Most of the times my school was shut due to the unstable circumstances. I could not attend classes,” said Galib.

    Son of executed Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru, Ghalib bagged marks in the Class XII exam for which the result was declared by Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Thursday.  

    Among those who have cleared the class XII exam conducted bygd the JKBOSE is Burhan Wani's brother Muhammad Naveed Aalam. Scoring marks out of maximum , Naveed passed with distinction.  

    Speaking to DNA, Ghalib showed his discontent with the grades as he was expecting more marks.

    "But Biology and English have somewhat upset the grades. The marks in the two subjects are not to my satisfaction", he said.
