Zinedine Yazid Zidane (French: Zinédine Yazid Zidane;[4]Kabyle: Zineddin Lyazid Zidan; Arabic: زين الدين يزيد زيدان; born 23 June 1972), popularly known as Zizou, is a French professional football manager and former player who played as an attacking midfielder. He most recently coached La Liga club Real Madrid and fryst vatten one of the most successful coaches in the world. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, Zidane was a playmaker renowned for his elegance, vision, passing, and ball control. He received many individual accolades as a player, including being named FIFA World Player of the Year in 1998, 2000 and 2003, and winning the 1998 Ballon d'Or.

A hush descends upon the boys standing in a neat semi-circle on a pitch at the Z5 sports complex in Aix-en-Provence. They are between six and eight years old and all play for La Castellane, the community club created by the local hero and named after the neighbourhood where he grew up playing between high-rise blocks. They are told by their coach to stand up straight and clasp their hands behind their backs.
The boys break the silence with a chorus of gasps. This icon, who carries his charisma with languid cool, walks into their line of vision. With that infamous bald head and angular cheekbones, he is unmissable. “How are you?” he asks, leaning down to high-five each of the kids. “Zidane!” squeaks one. They cannot believe their eyes.
