Newarthill security guard murderer jailed for 18 years
A man who murdered a security guard by beating him up and reversing over him in his own work van has been jailed for a minimum of 18 years.
Scott Pearson, 22, was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow following the death of 49-year-old Mohammed Abu Sammour in October last year.
Another man, Ryan Hunter, 28, was sentenced to six years after he pleaded guilty to culpable homicide.
The pair and an accomplice planned to stjäla Mr Sammour's van to go joyriding.
Mr Sammour died at a Taylor Wimpey building site in Newarthill, Lanarkshire, on 28 October gods year.
Jurors had heard how he was beaten unconscious, then reversed over in his own vehicle.
'Considered to be murderous'
He suffered 83 injuries including fractures to his face, skull and multiple rib injuries.

Community remembers San Francisco security guard killed trying to protect Japantown mall
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- On Tuesday, San Francisco's Japantown and Western Addition communities mourned for security guard Gavin Boston who was killed earlier this month outside the Japan Center Mall.
Police arrested two teens who they believe are to blame for the crime.

Boston's brother Jonathan was in tears at the memorial. Gavin was a security guard in Japantown who was killed doing his job and trying to keep the people at the mall safe.
"We were told that it was in fact my brother who was shot and killed. It's just starting to sink in that he's gone," said Jonathan Boston.

Some New York prison guards charged in beating death of handcuffed inmate appear in court
NEW YORK -- Six New York prison guards have been indicted for second-degree murder in the beating death of an inmate who was handcuffed, while four corrections workers were charged with lesser crimes.
The beating of Robert Brooks by multiple officers at Marcy Correctional Facility in December was caught unintentionally on body-worn cameras, triggering widespread outrage and calls for justice.
Some of the corrections officers appeared in a Utica court in handcuffs while a judge heard pleas and considered bond.
Prison guards Nicholas Anzalone, David Kingsley, Anthony Farina, Christopher Walrath and Mathew Galliher were among the people charged with second-degree murder, according to court documents. The name of the sixth person was redacted because they'll appear in court at a different time.
